CEMIJ's partner agency in Philippines, Amity Public Safety Academy (CEMIJ's Coordinatiing Office for Activities in ASEAN) implemented its Mass Casualty Incident response drill on July 26, 2015. The CEMIJ member also participated in the drill and supported the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the drill.
Multiple vehicular accidents invloving several injured pedstrians was selected as a scenario. An Incidnet Command System was applied to manage the scene and victims.
A CEMIJ expert has participated in the annual
California Mobile Command, Control and Communications Rally in April 2015. More
than 25 public safety agencies were also present at the Rally.
The CEMIJ expert met with the CEMIJ technical
advisors in the U.S. who have been supporting its international disaster
management activities.
Current issues in command control and
communications among the participating agencies were expressed and discussed at
the site. It was another valuable learning process for the CEMIJ member.
The main theme of the training this time is "social advocacy" in disaster management.
The training program was designed to meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Social Affairs which focues on more practical approaches to care vulnerable people in disaster situataions.
CEMIJ activities focusing on disaster management in Indonesia will be enhanced, enriched and expanded in the year of 2015 in collaboration with our pratners, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Asia Muslim Charity Foundation (AMCF) as well as other partners in disaster management.
Upon the request came from the government of Garut in Indonesia, CEMIJ dispatched its expert to the city of Garut which is known as one of the highest risk-rnaking cities in Indonesia in order to assess its disaster management training needs in collabotration with the AMCF in March 2015.
The representation of the government of Garut provided their insights regarding the preparedness level and the trainng needs. The CEMIJ expert also provided a presentation which depicts the lessons learned from the 311 Japanese Tsunami disaster.
Based on the findings, the AMCF and CEMIJ will develop a training program for the government of Graut in the near future.
